Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Do I need a GP referral to see you?

No. You can book directly as a self-pay patient. A GP referral is optional but can be helpful if you have previous test results or a summary of your medical history.

2. What are your consultation fees?

  • New consultation (face-to-face or online): £250
  • Follow-up consultation: £200
These fees are fixed and apply regardless of the clinic location.

3. How much do procedures cost?

Procedure fees depend on the type and complexity of treatment.

A personalised quote is provided after your consultation, once the dermatologist has assessed your skin concern.

All procedures are scheduled electively and not performed on the same day as the initial consultation.

4. Do you provide cosmetic or aesthetic treatments?

We primarily offer medical and surgical dermatology.

Selected cosmetic treatments may be available in the future — please contact us if you would like to register interest.

5. What conditions do you treat?

We assess and manage a wide range of skin problems including:

acne, rosacea, eczema/dermatitis, psoriasis, rashes, infections, suspicious moles, benign lesions (skin tags, cysts, warts), sun-damage, skin cancer, hair/scalp issues, and nail conditions.

6. How long is a consultation?

New consultations typically last 20–30 minutes, either face-to-face or online, allowing time for a full assessment and treatment plan.

7. What should I bring to my appointment?

  • A list of your medications
  • Any previous dermatology letters, biopsy results, or blood tests
  • Photos of your skin issue if it changes over time
  • Details of treatments you’ve already tried

8. Are procedures performed on the same day?

No.

All procedures are arranged electively after your consultation.

This ensures proper planning, informed consent, and optimal safety.

9. Where are procedures performed?

Procedures are carried out in CQC-approved clinical rooms within the private hospital locations, ensuring a safe and regulated environment.

10. Do you treat children?

We currently treat patients aged 16 and above at Sarum Road Hospital (and adults at other locations).

11. Do you accept private medical insurance?

We operate on a self-pay basis.

Patients may submit receipts to their insurer for reimbursement, but we do not invoice insurers directly and reimbursement varies by policy.

12. What happens during the first consultation?

Your dermatologist will:

  • Discuss your symptoms and concerns
  • Examine the affected area(s)
  • Explain likely diagnoses
  • Provide a personalised treatment plan
  • Arrange tests, imaging, or procedures if needed

You’ll have plenty of time for questions.

13. Are biopsies and tests available on site?

Yes. Biopsies and minor surgical procedures are performed on site in fully equipped, CQC-approved rooms.

Most biopsy results return within 1–2 weeks.

14. How quickly can I be seen?

Most patients are offered an appointment within 1–3 weeks, depending on clinic location and urgency.

15. I feel embarrassed about my skin problem — is this normal?

Completely. Many patients feel anxious or self-conscious.

Dermatologists see these conditions every day, and your dignity and comfort are always prioritised.

16. Can I choose an online consultation instead of coming in?

Yes — the same fee applies.

Many conditions can be assessed online, but some concerns (e.g., moles or lesions requiring dermoscopy) may require a follow-up in-person visit.

17. Is parking available?

Yes. All clinic locations offer free on-site parking.
